We built a website for Micheleina Charles-Hazelle, a Kittitian visual arts teacher with eleven years of teaching experience, post-university, and a passion for education. After looking around at her years of work, she felt that she wanted to broaden her impact, and share her perspectives on education and development.

Micheleina.blog was birthed from this concept.

TL:DR? Here is the project outline.

The project asked for a variety of visual elements, including a portrait shoot to create imagery for the website. Discussions during the design phase also caused us to align her “About Us” page to an upcoming video series. She therefore filmed an introductory video which was used as an excellent introduction to her on that page.

Visual Journey

This website was enjoyable from an visual perspective, from Micheleina’s very afro-centric and casual aesthetic, to her logo and personal branding, portraiture and videography.

Using the modular elements of her logo meant that a background pattern could be used to extend the design, aided by the use of her colour scheme which included burgundy, yellow and black. Having Seon on the project meant that more emphasis could be placed on the web design and integration of the website into her personal branding strategy.

Client-Maintained, ekrüb Trained.

We expect the site to undergo changes over time, as this site will be client-maintained. In preparation for the client’s journey with her new website, we conducted training sessions with her, where she made various changes, to understand how to maintain her site’s beauty while she conducts upgrades. That plus, we agreed to assist her with any teething and initial maintenance she may wish to do in the first couple of months.

The best thing is, being a creative herself, we expect to see some transformations happening here or there. At the time of publication of this post, we really love this aesthetic. It’s going to be intriguing to see what Micheleina does with it.

Maybe we’ll be back for an upgrade in a couple of years as she grows. We are excited to see her journey.
